This Could Be Huge!
BF4 BETA NEWS EmptyThu May 31, 2018 10:16 am by RedKnight
This could be great news for Modern Warfare Gamers on the PS4/5 and xBox1.

While we wait for H-Hour... if it ever gets here... and with the new WW2 Battlefield V coming this Fall and with BF1 and CoD WW2 out now... both crap games in my opinion... at least we have some hope for a great new War Shooter.  If MW4 includes any Clan Support with Custom User Private Servers... MW4 will be pure GOLD!

Call of Duty: WWII certainly has some interesting timing. It has the dubious duty of returning the landmark first-person series to its titular roots at a time when any game centered on fascism, nationalism, and especially Nazism …

Battlefield 4 Beta – Current Lists of Known Issues
David Veselka October 01, 2013
LINK  BF4 BETA NEWS 8515066067_f55c283230_o

Day one of the exclusive Battlefield 4 beta on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is nearly over, and clearly, the game is not without its issues on all platforms.

Regardless, we hope you are enjoying it and that you are providing feedback to the DICE team in a civilized manner through proper channels like the official Battlefield 4 Beta forum.

If you’ve yet to visit the community over on the new Battlelog, chances are, you’ve no idea what sort of bugs and issues developers behind the beta are aware of. You might be relieved to know that a few of the game’s faults might already be on the chopping block, awaiting a fix.

So, here is a list of known issues that the Battlefield 4 Beta development team is currently looking into:

BF4 BETA NEWS BRFis6kCUAA3Cdf-660x370

PC

We have received reports of Freezes and Crashes affecting the BF4 Beta client. Our team is currently investigating this matter and we will update you here as soon as we know more.

If you are affected by a Freeze or a Crash upon joining a game, and the error message “BF4 Beta has stopped working” appears, please make sure your Windows is fully updated and your Graphic card is running on its latest driver. Alternatively, some players using GeForce drivers were able to fix this by downgrading their driver to an earlier version.

We received report of unusually low performances, and are currently looking into that as well.

Please note that the Battlefield 4 Beta does not support Win32 and 32 Bit operating systems.

Video settings may not be saved after rebooting the game.

The tooltip “E” to enter the Venom is visible at a 400 meter distance.
___________

Xbox 360

Player stats in Battledash may not match the stats displayed on Battlelog.

You may experience an 8 seconds non-interactive pause, when leaving a Multiplayer session or after pressing Start when booting the game.

You may be floating if you jump on the bollards.

Cruise Missiles may not destroy any vehicle dropped by Vehicle Drop.

The requirements for unlock criteria may not be displayed.

Two flag icons may appear overlapping on each other at each flag point.

The first attachment of any weapon that is not unlocked, will be the only attachment shown for the first unlocked weapon.
___________

PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360

If you’re disconnected from the EA Servers, the Main Menu tiles remains fixed in the front end.
___________

PlayStation 3

When you choose to quit during the EOR, you may be able to see “underworld” for 1 second.

The camera transition before the EOR screen is under water.

If you destroy an enemy tank near the Flag A, it may triggers the map’s Mini-Levolution event.

If you quit from the XMB™ menu after the “Press Start” screen, you may experience a forced shutdown.

The background screen for the losing team during EOR, is placed “under the game world” for Domination and Obliteration game modes.

The Hit Indicator is not present when shooting at enemies.
The EOD Bot can’t arm or disarm MCOMs on Rush mode.

If you disconnect and reconnect your Ethernet cable while playing, the Game may remain in an endless loading loop.

You may not be able to perform a knife takedown on an enemy using the TAW Launcher.

If you sign out from PSN while loading into a MultiPlayer server, you may experience an infinite loading screen.

In the Soldier Progression menu, you may be able to see upcoming vehicle unlocks that will not be available in the Beta.

You may be able to see several Medals, Ribbons, and Dog Tags in the “My Soldier” menu.

EA_Chems writes, “If you are currently experiencing any issue listed above, rest assured that our team is currently looking into it internally.”

Naturally, more will be added to this list over time, but we’ll make sure to update you daily so you can keep track.

Anything in particular that you’ve run into that has not appeared on this list?

Official Battlefield 4 Multiplayer Beta Overview
David Veselka October 01, 2013
LINK  BF4 BETA NEWS 8515066067_f55c283230_o

To help you gain a better understanding of the Battlefield, DICE developers have put together a lengthy multiplayer briefing video for the recently released Battlefield 4 beta, which is now open to early access users on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

While the beta only consists of a few modes, one map, and just a few weapons, Battlefield is a big game in itself and there are a ton of aspects to master, ranging from properly reading the user interface, learning how to use vehicles, or simply understanding how some of the soldier classes work.

With that in mind, be sure to check out the briefing below.

DICE Tech Director: Battlefield 4 ‘Graphics At Release Will Be Better and/or Faster’
David Veselka October 01, 2013
LINK  BF4 BETA NEWS 8515066067_f55c283230_o

DICE technical director Johan Andersson has assured concerned Battlefield 4 fans that the game will look better at launch.

While it might mostly pertain to the PC version of the game, Andersson confirms that not all graphical options are available in the currently ongoing beta and that performance is not final.

According to him, the game’s visuals will “be better and/or faster” at release.

BF4 BETA NEWS Screen-Shot-2013-10-01-at-10.28.45-AM

He was also able to re-confirm that downscaling and upscaling your performance to better suit your rig will be an important option available to all users on the PC at launch.

BF4 BETA NEWS Screen-Shot-2013-10-01-at-10.26.43-AM

For the console crowd currently enjoying the beta on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, you should take comfort in knowing that, as was the case with Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4 will most likely launch with the option to download a high-resolution texture pack, cleaning up those muddy textures you may currently be experiencing in the beta. This has yet to be confirmed, however.

So, keep positive while in the Battlefield 4 beta, but be sure to report gameplay bugs or tech issues in the official forums.

So... has any of our SoF Members played Obliteration yet?  We can give Obliteration a try tonight for Clan Night.

Looks like Capture The Flag... where the Flag blows up!!!

Battlefield 4 Beta gets first look at Obliteration Mode
Bill Hess on October 9, 2013
LINK  BF4 BETA NEWS 8515066067_f55c283230_o

DICE has added a new mode to the ongoing Battlefield 4 Multiplayer Beta. Beginning today, players can access a new mode called Obliteration, in addition to the already available Conquest and Domination gametypes.

The mode is rolling out across all platforms, with DICE saying that the game mode will see server availability increase gradually during the rollout.

Obliteration is a mode that pits two teams fighting over possession and delivery of a bomb the others’ base. The objective is simple — retain control of the bomb, take it to the other team’s base, arm it at one of the team’s three objectives to score points. The first team to take out all three of the opponent’s objectives is the winner of the match.

The Battlefield 4 Beta is scheduled to run until October 15th, and is open to all on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

PSA: Battlefield 4 beta stats do not carry over to full game
Despite previous reports, the beta stats, unlocks, awards, etc. will reset for the final game.
October 13th, 2013 IN News
LINK BF4 BETA NEWS 8515066067_f55c283230_o

There has been some confusion regarding the current beta and its stats and progress. EA wrongly informed gamers that the stats, unlocks and progression would carry over into the full retail game, but that isn’t the case. All of the Battlefield 4 stats, unlocks, awards, etc. from the beta will be reset for the full game.

The beta ends on October 15th, after being online for two weeks. The unlocks, awards, and other features have been limited in the beta, as the main focus is on gameplay and stability.

Last month, EA announced that unlocks and awards earned in the beta would carry over into the retail game, but they’ve since backtracked on this. When the game releases on October 29, all players will start at bottom on equal grounds, regardless of their beta participation.

Battlefield 4 Beta Comes to an End, the Wait Begins
Alex DiFiori October 15, 2013
LINK  BF4 BETA NEWS 8515066067_f55c283230_o

There’s something about Battlefield that escapes explanation, which is exactly why EA/DICE’s marketing for Battlefield 4 is so brilliant.  Only in Battlefield isn’t just a silly slogan, it’s the very thing that makes Battlefield the epic FPS experience that fans have to come to expect from the franchise.

Yes, it has guns (lots of guns), explosions, lens flare, a modern setting and more explosions, just like every other FPS game of the last few years.  But it’s the subtle ways in which all those arbitrary components that make up the vast majority of FPS games come together only in Battlefield that makes it the jaw dropping adrenaline rush that the trailers make it out to be. Yeah, it has it’s dull moments, but they’re often punctuated or interrupted by a building crashing down around you, a tank exploding in your face, a skyscraper falling, or a killfeed that not even the most experienced Call of Duty player has earned.  The things that connect these moments are what makes Only in Battlefield more than just a slogan. They make it an experience you can’t get elsewhere.

There you are, going about your business, securing a hostile objective when “BOOM”, the wall next you explodes in a flurry of concrete, C4, and gunfire and before you know it, an enemy squad has you pinned down screaming into your mic for your squadmates to come and save you.  That wall exploding isn’t a scripted event, it’s just what the enemy squad decided to do in that particular match.  That’s what separates Battlefield from most other FPS games and the way DICE has spiced up those moments is, in part, what makes BF4 a true sequel to BF3 and not just a re-skin.  Yes, the gunplay is tighter, thanks to no more random bullet spread and severely toned-down suppression and, yes, if you played BF3, chances are BF4 will feel like riding a bike, but then an aircraft carrier comes ashore and cuts you off from killing that enemy you were chasing down, forcing you to find a new, and probably utterly decimated path to victory.

Historically, the Only in Battlefield moments were something players were solely in control of.  With BF4 and Levolution, DICE has given the levels a chance to make some moments of their own happen.  While it’s true that Levolution might feel a tad scripted in that players initiate a scripted destruction event, no other game even comes close to the scale and level of depth DICE is able to achieve by bursting a dam or dropping a smokestack on your head in BF4.  Now instead of just having C4 kamikaze or helicopter dogfight stories to pass onto your gamer friends and teammates, you get those set-piece moments that made for some seriously entertaining scenarios thrown into the mix from back when FPS gamers still enjoyed replaying a single player campaign a few times.  But what really sets BF4 apart from it’s predecessor, to me, on a fundamental gameplay level, is the little things DICE has done with just about everything in the game to liven up and re-focus the gameplay.

It used to be that you and a buddy would hop in the attack chopper and hope to survive for as long as possible before getting the dead-in-the-air-notification, telling you your ride’s just been disabled and it’s either land while evading enemy fire, or blow up in the process.  In BF4, thanks to a smart but simple and totally revamped damage system, getting in a tank or a chopper doesn’t feel like it comes with a guaranteed death sentence after you’ve been hit a few times with enemy anti-vehicle weapons.  Now, you can take a few hits and keep your ride alive if they aren’t well placed shots to your tank’s fat butt or your chopper’s rotors.  That makes every time you hop in a vehicle feel just a little bit different, which has a surprisingly large effect on that feeling of freshness that we expect from proper sequels and the match-to-match gameplay.

Everything else about BF4, from the way your character accelerates rather than jumps into a sprint, weapon handling, and even reloading is done with a fresh spin but stills bears a happy resemblances to its BF3 origins.  While some might argue that BF4 is really just BF3.5 or what BF3 was truly “meant to be,” I see all these little additions to the way the game plays and can’t help but think how awful they would have been had DICE put them in BF3 without having the mountain of new data that I’m sure BF3 gave them.  Being the minor, and in some ways drastic, overhaul to the franchise that BF3 was, BF4 is an improvement in every way.  But all of it’s triumphs, in true sequel form, have a basis and were made possible by DICE’s experience with BF3.  While most FPS sequels try simply to replicate what made previous entries successful with a fresh coat of paint, BF4 is a total redesign of not just how that paint is applied but also why it’s applied.  Everything that’s changed from BF3 to BF4 was made so for a reason and almost every change, if not for the better, is a very strong step in both a new and good direction.

All things considered, Battlefield vets are going to find themselves right at home in BF4 while new players will be introduced to the idea that not every franchise spawns recycled sequels to fulfill an annual quota of attempted shock and awe.  We’ve only had our hands on the beta, but I can already tell BF4 delivers on not just the skyscraper-collapsing-moments, but on the core gameplay as well and in a way that feels familiar but totally fresh at the same time.

Battlefield 4 officially launches on 10/29 on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, 11/12 on the PlayStation 4 and 11/19 on the Xbox One. Stay tuned to MP1st as we’ll be covering everything there is to cover with Battlefield 4.

DICE Shares Battlefield 4 Improvements Based On Beta Feedback
David Veselka October 16, 2013
LINK  BF4 BETA NEWS 8515066067_f55c283230_o

Insisting that the Battlefield 4 beta that took place during the first half of this month on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 was an actual “beta” and not just a glorified “demo”, developers DICE have shared their learnings from the experience and outlined a few of the changes they will be implementing before the game’s release later this month.

Fortunately, there are points here to make both PC and console users quite happy, as DICE will be improving PC frame rates by reducing CPU usage as well as giving console players a few more controller options to play with than the beta allowed. There are, of course, a number of balancing fixes outlined in the notes below as well.

Low frame rate/stuttering

PC players may have experienced trouble in the Beta getting the game running at a good frame rate. Rest assured that we’re using the information we received to optimize the performance for the launch of the game. We also released three game client updates and a number of game server updates during the Beta to address some of these issues and to gather more information to ensure a smoother launch.
Stuck on loading screen

We have identified some of the reasons why players, mainly on PC, were getting stuck on the loading screen and are currently working around the clock to decrease the rate at which this occurs. The latest PC patch for the Beta helped for some players and we are confident we will be able to minimize this issue for launch.

High CPU usage during the Beta

CPU usage could sometimes skyrocket for dual, quad and six-core processors. We identified some of the reasons and released three patches with fixes that went live during the Beta, to address the problems. This was a true Beta, and as such all the crash reports that were generated during this period will actually help us make a better game.

Controller layouts (X360/PS3)

We’ve increased the available controller options in Battlefield 4, including the new controller layout and multiple alternatives that we hope will make you feel right at home. If you’re more comfortable with the controls from Battlefield 3, we’ve got you covered. Just by bringing up the options menu, you can choose the “Legacy” layout, which is similar to that in Battlefield 3.

Empty server listings (X360/PS3)

While in the Server Browser you may have seen lists of empty servers. By changing the filter options, you’ll be able to find populated servers that you can join. You can also use the “Quick Match” function to quickly get into the action.

The elevator catapult (All platforms)

Although an interesting concept, elevators were never designed to act as a catapult or teleporter. The bug where the elevator button would catapult you up into the air is fixed for the final game. But we did enjoy all the crazy videos you’ve posted. Thanks!

Gameplay balancing

We are still balancing gameplay, and in true DICE fashion will continue to do so well after the release of Battlefield 4. Below are just some of the gameplay changes based on your feedback that we’re making in time for the launch of the game.

Infantry Changes

Fixed how the player only receives a single local damage sound effect if he or she was the victim of a quick, clean kill.  The sound and camera impact effect had too long a cool down between hits. This should improve the responsiveness of being killed and taking damage.

Reduced the fire rate of the AK12 in burst from 1000rpm to 750rpm. The rate of fire was too high when combined with the low recoil of the weapon, making it more powerful than intended in burst mode.

Tweaked the compensator and muzzle brake so they’re properly less accurate in sustained automatic fire.

Reduced and rebalanced full auto accuracy based on rate of fire for all automatic weapons to balance low ROF weapons. Low ROF weapons were remaining accurate long enough to get easy kills outside of their intended optimal range.

Increased the default throw distance of the portable ammo and med packs. This makes it easier to throw these packs to teammates.

Portable ammo packs now reload 2 magazines of bullets instantly and up a total of 4 magazines per pack over time. The player must stay on top of the ammo pack in order to benefit from all of the ammo reloading. Grenades, RPG’s, and other explosive launchers do not benefit from the instant reload function of the Ammo Pack.

Increased the muzzle flash of the 25mm and 40mm launchers to make their threat position more visible.

Fixed an issue where the knife stab didn’t align with the kill event.

The revive time has been increased from 7s to 10s.

Vehicle Changes

Fixed some descriptions of weapons for vehicles that incorrectly described the function of the weapon.

Increased the damage of the Stinger and IGLA to 3 hits to kill attack choppers (was 25%, now 35%).

Increased the speed of all TOW guided missiles to 75m/s from 50m/s so they can catch-up to fast vehicles like the Quad bike.

Increased the sustained fire accuracy of the Coaxial LMG on armored vehicles because it was underpowered.

Reduced the damage the 40mm and 25mm infantry weapons do to armored vehicles to highlight their anti-infantry role.

Reduced the damage main gun on the IFVs against other armor to highlight their primarily anti-infantry role.

Fixed an issue where the tank main gun did not correctly hit the center of the crosshair at all times.

Multiple options are now available for controlling how your vehicles steer with a joystick on all platforms, as well as improved the responsiveness of steering while accelerating.

Locking Weapon Changes

RPG7 and SMAW can no longer lock on to Laser Designated Targets. It was inauthentic and not balanced.

Fixed some projectiles not warning vehicles when they were fired on a Laser Designated target. Reduced the lock on distance for RPGs, SMAW, and MBT LAW missiles to 350m from 500m. This gives the IGLA the clear long range AA role for soldiers, and keeps the team play element of Laser Designation.

All Laser Designated missiles now do a maximum of 90% damage to Attack and Scout helicopters (down from 100%). This was done to give helicopters a chance to use their Fire Extinguisher countermeasure even against Laser Designated weapons.

General Changes

The kill string in the score log now appears sooner, making the UI more responsive to a kill event.

The aim assist on X360/PS3 has been tweaked to be more consistent at all ranges. The assist was over powerful at close range, and not powerful enough at medium range. Players should now find that close combat requires much more player input and the snap to a target is far less forgiving. At medium range the player should experience a bit more assistance tracking targets, but generally still reduced aim assist effectiveness.

PC Specific Changes

Fixed a string in On Foot PC key bindings that should have read “CROUCH (TOGGLE) / PRONE (HOLD)”.

Removed an unused “Underslung” key binding on PC, the “Select Gadget 1″ key binding now controls both of these actions as expected.

The Battlefield 4 beta ended a few days ago, after giving players a chance to play the game for two weeks. Over the span of those two weeks, developer DICE collected a lot of data and feedback, and they’ve already released a list of changes that were made from the beta feedback.

For starters, a lot of technical fixes have been applied to Battlefield 4. From random crashes, to high CPU usage on PCs, to improved performance. The final game will run much better on a wide range of PC hardware.

Gameplay-wise, a lot of balancing has been done since the beta. Some of the most important tweaks include:

Reduced the fire rate of the AK-12 in burst mode, as it was overpowered (to 750 RPM from 1000 RPM).

Several other weapons have been rebalanced when it comes to autofire.

Revive time has been increased to 10 seconds from 7 seconds.

Muzzle flash from grenade launchers has been increased to make their position more visible.

Portable ammo packs will now resupply two main magazines instantly instead of one. Their default throw distance has been increased as well.

RPG and SMAW no longer lock on vehicles.

Stinger and IGLA anti air launchers has increased damage. It now takes 3 rocket hits to destroy an aircraft.

The speed of the stationary TOW missiles has increased by 50%.

The coaxial LMG on tanks and APCs has increased accuracy.

Reduced damage that the M320, the M32 MGL, and XM25 grenade launchers do to armored vehicles.

Fixed the main tank gun crosshair issue. The tanks now fire accurately.

BF4 BETA NEWS Battlefield-4-beta-fixes

As for consoles, DICE has increased the available controller layout options for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and they’ve fixed the “empty server listings” bug.
