This could be great news for Modern Warfare Gamers on the PS4/5 and xBox1.

While we wait for H-Hour... if it ever gets here... and with the new WW2 Battlefield V coming this Fall and with BF1 and CoD WW2 out now... both crap games in my opinion... at least we have some hope for a great new War Shooter.  If MW4 includes any Clan Support with Custom User Private Servers... MW4 will be pure GOLD!

Battlefield 4 – These Popular Balancing Requests Are Being “Monitered”, But Not Changed
Yesterday David Veselka
LINK  FEBRUARY BF4 NEWS UPDATES AND PATCHES 8515066067_f55c283230_o

Battlefield 4 developers want you to know that they are listening when it comes to your feedback.

But while you may have your ideas about what weapons should be “nerfed” or what vehicles should be “buffed”, the studio wants you to consider that some things are the way they are for a reason.

In a recent Battlefield Blog update, DICE compiled a list of balancing items that are frequently questioned by the community when it comes to their effectiveness, but may not be seeing a change any time soon. Though the team is open to tweaking these popular items, it might be worth reading up on some of the reasonings behind why DICE believes they are working as designed.

FEBRUARY BF4 NEWS UPDATES AND PATCHES BF4-Zavod-311_WM-e1380265356874-640x360

“Right now, we are currently thinking of the items below as working as designed, but we are open to suggestions and comments,” the studio writes.

Check out the full list below:

BALANCING ITEMS DICE IS MONITORING

1) Players have suggested that the TV missiles be allowed to 1 hit kill enemy aircraft. While we initially considered increasing their damage to 90% from 80%, we decided against this change. The TV missile is not intended to be an anti-aircraft weapon system, and while skilled players may currently be able to use it that way, we do not find its current damage level to be imbalanced.

2) Players have also suggested that Sniper Rifle and 12G SLUG rounds be allowed to penetrate body armor at close range. The purpose of body armor is to specifically counter these kinds of threats, and players with these weapons have received significant buffs to accuracy to allow them to achieve close range headshots with higher frequency. Finally, the goal of 12G SLUGS is a long range alternative for shotguns, players wishing to defeat body armor at close range with shotguns should utilize the 12G FLECHETTE rounds instead.

3) As a capable all around weapon, players have suggested the GALIL ACE 23 is over powered. Players of specific types, especially competitive players, will gravitate towards a weapon that can work in any situation. The ACE 23 is out performed at close range, long range, and has competitors at medium range. We see no need for a change at this time.

4) Below Radar has been a hot topic, asking why it was “removed” from BF4. Below Radar was never a part of the original design for BF4’s locking mechanics, and while we have discussed allowing a low altitude state to cause lock on to take longer, the added frustration of being unable to lock on to targets does not offset the added danger to helicopters at low altitude. Furthermore, having a low altitude state only affect PASSIVE or ACTIVE radar missiles would add additional confusion, as it did in BF3 when stingers still worked on Below Radar vehicles.

5) Long Range scopes for DMRs were tested extensively internally before release. We specifically removed these scopes from those weapons as we found any class being able to effectively snipe was detrimental to the overall pace and gameplay of BF4. We have no intentions of adding those scopes to DMRs for BF4.

6) As a guaranteed get out of jail free card, aircraft counter measures are only designed to allow a vehicle to escape distant danger, not to enable the aircraft to be immune to lock on weaponry. While this is a tricky balance, we’re currently happy with the reload times and amounts of counter measures carried by aircraft.

7) MAA is too powerful against the AC130 and other ground vehicles. The reduction to the range of the MAA cannons should address the issue of the AC130, and at this time we feel that the balance between MAA and other ground vehicles is appropriate.

8 ) Ground destruction makes vehicle driving difficult after significant combat. We’re happy that the dynamic aspect of BF4 has a direct impact on the gameplay, and at the moment do not think this is in need of any tweaks.

9) Some players have been disappointed in the rate of fire of the G36C carbine, citing it being different from BF3. We understand the feelings of fans when their favorite gun doesn’t work in the same way it was before, however BF4 is its own game, with its own balance, and all weapons received various changes and balance factors. We do not intend to change the rate of fire of the G36C.

10) Attack helicopter maneuverability is also a hot topic. We’re open to the idea that the Attack Helicopters could benefit from an increase in speed and maneuverability. At the moment, we’ve made tweaks to the primary threats for Attack Helicopters, and we want to see how that change affects the battlefield before we make additional changes blindly.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree, or do believe some of these items still require tweaks?

FEBRUARY BF4 NEWS UPDATES AND PATCHES Second-Assault-Key-Art-e13844795419301-640x360

As we have previously reported, all signs point to an imminent release of Battlefield 4′s Second Assault DLD launching soon on PC, Xbox 360, and Sony’s consoles.

PlayStation Trophies, via VG247, have added the trophy list of Battlefield 4: Second Assault’s for both the PS3 and PS4, adding more credence that Second Assault is indeed just around the corner for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and PC.

You can catch the list below:

   * Falling Down: Kill an enemy with a ceiling collapse in Operation Metro (Bronze)
   * Dirty Job: Find the hidden tunnel in Caspian Border (Bronze)
   * Torched: Ignite a brush fire using the repair tool in Operation Metro or Caspian Border (Bronze)
   * Risky Business: Kill an enemy flag carrier while carrying their flag in CTF (Silver)
   * Blind Bomber: In a round get 5 kills with air vehicles in Gulf of Oman (Silver)

Yesterday, a DICE developer mentioned that the PS4 patch the studio rolled out was intended for Second Assault.

“This update is mainly designed to prepare the game for the upcoming release of the expansion pack Battlefield 4 Second Assault. We will announce the release date for this expansion pack later.”

Battlefield 4: Second Assault is currently only on Xbox One. It includes maps Caspian Border, Gulf of Oman, Operation Firestorm, and Operation Métro.

DICE Details Next Battlefield 4 Tweaks
Devs outline the items they will and won't be balancing.
by Mike Sharkey
January 31, 2014
LINK  FEBRUARY BF4 NEWS UPDATES AND PATCHES 8515066067_f55c283230_o

Balancing requests are among the most frequent DICE receives from Battlefield 4 players, and the developers have already tweaked a number of weapons and vehicles in response. Today on the Battlefield Blog, though, the devs are highlighting the items they believe are "working as designed."

For now, at least. DICE says it welcomes further "suggestions and comments," but doesn't believe some hot-button items currently need balancing.

Most notably among the balancing items DICE is monitoring:

   * TV Missiles - Players have requested they become a one-hit kill on enemy aircraft. DICE disagrees.

   * Sniper Rifles - Players have requested these be upgraded to penetrate body armor at close range. DICE says body armor is designed to specifically counter those threats.

   * Long-range Scopes for DMRs - Players want them, but DICE says they would have a negative impact on gameplay.

   * Aircraft Counter Measures - Players have asked the reload for counter measures to be increased. DICE says it's a "tricky balance," but it likes the current reload times.

   * Attack Helicopter Maneuverability - Players would like increased maneuverability, but DICE says it recently tweaked attack copter weapons, and it wants to see if that solves the complaints first.

As to the items that are being balanced, pistols and grenades are getting a number of tweaks that players should see in-game "soon."

Personally, I'm happy we can start focusing on balancing Battlefield 4 instead of worrying about its bugs and stability issues.

Battlefield 4 Platoons are coming in February
Better late than never: the Platoon feature will be coming later this month, and will be expanded in the future.

FEBRUARY BF4 NEWS UPDATES AND PATCHES Battlelog

DICE recently updated Battlelog for Battlefield 4, which included a bunch of improvements to the web-based stats tracking service. And with the update, DICE announced that we’re finally getting the Battlefield 4 Platoons feature later this month.

Platoons were popular in BF3, and are essentially “clans” that players can create and join. The Platoons feature wasn’t talked about much back when the game was announced and when it launched, but everyone sort of expected DICE to carry over the feature from BF3 to Battlefield 4.

After several months of waiting, we can finally expect Platoons to go live later this month. However, don’t expect the full version with all the features enabled. According to DICE’s announcement, Platoons will launch later this month, and features will be added to it in the future.

We’re not entirely surprised that DICE put Platoons on the backburner — there are more serious issues that Battlefield 4 is dealing with at the moment (bugs, glitches, netcode etc.)

The new Battlelog update includes several fixes to the mobile version and the specific apps — you can see the full changelog here.  FEBRUARY BF4 NEWS UPDATES AND PATCHES 8515066067_f55c283230_o

FEBRUARY BF4 NEWS UPDATES AND PATCHES Rainbow-six-patriots

Police-themed Battlefield game coming 2015

The Rumor: DICE has handed its precious Battlefield series over to California-based Dead Space developer Visceral Games for a police-themed sequel, according to a report. The game is said to be codenamed ‘Havana’ and is targeting a release in 2015, which would leave players enough time to play out Battlefield 4 and its upcoming DLC content.

Our Take: There has been much speculation over how EA will annualize its first-person shooter properties after having announced in January 2013 that it would withdraw investment in its Medal of Honor titles, essentially yanking it from rotation. Bringing in a second developer to work on Battlefield would certainly be taking a leaf out of Activision’s book, which has multiple studios working on Call of Duty games. And with no further details offered, its up you to imagine how a Battlefield game with cops might work, but we’re imagining cops vs. criminals with ‘gangs’ instead of ’squads’, and much urban warfare.

EA doesn’t believe Battlefield 4 had a bad launch
EA seems to be completely oblivious to how badly the BF4 launch went.
February 16th, 2014 IN News
LINK  FEBRUARY BF4 NEWS UPDATES AND PATCHES 8515066067_f55c283230_o

According to a recent interview with EA’s Chief Creative Officer, Battlefield 4 did not have a bad launch, and says it was a “successful product”. Which is quite a statement to make, considering how everyone and their mother knows just how awful the game was at launch — so awful that EA is now facing three different class-action lawsuits over the launch of Battlefield 4.

FEBRUARY BF4 NEWS UPDATES AND PATCHES Battlefield-4-launch

In an interview with RockPaperShotgun, EA’s COO Rich Hilleman seems completely oblivious to the issues Battlefield 4 has been facing. RockPaperShotgun had the guts to really ask some tough questions to Hilleman, who kept insisting that Battlefield 4 was a successful product from the get go.

Hilleman says that he doesn’t agree that Battlefield 4 had a bad launch, and says the game has been successful both sales wise and gameplay wise. He might be correct on the first part, but certainly not on the second part.

We’ve previously heard from EA CFO Peter Moore that Battlefield 4 sales were in-line with their projections, but he didn’t say anything about the quality of the product.

It’s one thing to launch an unplayable game, but it’s a completely different thing to deny the issues. Battlefield 4 has set back the franchise quite a bit, and a lot of gamers will be wary of buying the next game in the series (us included).

If EA isn’t willing to accept that Battlefield 4 had an awful launch and try to fix things going forward, the same thing will likely happen with Battlefield 5.

You can read the full interview here.  FEBRUARY BF4 NEWS UPDATES AND PATCHES 8515066067_f55c283230_o
